Sensodyne is a brand of dental healthcare products owned by the pharmaceutical giant GlaxoSmithKline. It was originally developed by a company called Block Drug, but that brand was acquired by GSK in 2001. Sensodyne manufactures oral hygiene products that are aimed at people with either sensitive teeth or gums. As well as dental floss they also sell toothbrushes with softer bristles, toothpastes that are designed to reduce sensitivity, as well as removing plaque, and a range of mouthwashes.
If someone suffers with sensitive or damaged gums, then flossing can often be an uncomfortable and sometimes unsettling experience, as the wrong kind of floss can cause further damage to the gums, making them bleed.
