Tom’s of Maine is a US company that produces oral hygiene products, soap and deodorant, all by following environmentally friendly and ethical principles. All of their products are created using natural ingredients, such as lavender soap, camomile deodorant and dental floss that is coated with natural waxes.
Tom’s of Maine was created in 1970 by Maine couple Tom and Kate Chappell. They initially sold their products at craft fairs and in local stores. In 2006 Tom’s of Maine was acquired by the Colgate-Palmolive company, but they have maintained their independent spirit and commitment to green issues.
None of their products are tested on animals, all their packaging is recyclable and the company tries to use renewable energy where possible in the production process. Tom’s of Maine produce a range of toothpastes and mouthwashes as well as two varieties of dental floss.
