I really do not enjoy flossing; I find it difficult and tedious. Is there an alternative to using dental floss?

For some people dental floss really is just too difficult and too tedious to use daily, no matter how beneficial it is for their oral hygiene. Fortunately, there are a few other options for these people. Interdental brushes are the popular choice for floss dodgers. These are often much easier to use but unfortunately do not have the effectiveness that floss has at thoroughly cleaning between the teeth and under the gum line. Interdental brushes can be bought in a range of widths to suit different sized gaps but do not fit into the tiniest gaps that dental floss does with ease. Nevertheless, if it is the choice between an interdental brush and not flossing at all, the interdental brush is definitely the best option.

There is also the option of a toothpick if the gaps are big enough. This is not recommended by dentists because the sharp stick can damage the gum line if you do not take care and end up stabbing the gum. Furthermore, a toothpick does not have the effectiveness that professional dental products have in removing plaque from between the teeth. A toothpick is useful when, for instance, you have a large, annoying piece of food trapped between a pair of teeth and need a quick fix to remove it.
